Why We Chose The Modern Pines:

The Modern Pines is our sixth vacation rental. Since 2012, we’ve owned and rented homes in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and each one has taught us more about what makes a vacation home feel welcoming, comfortable and easy to enjoy.

We’ve always loved this part of the White Mountains. Bretton Woods is my favorite mountain to ski, while my husband and son love Cannon. Bethlehem puts us close to both, as well as Franconia Notch, Littleton, great hiking and the restaurants and shops downtown. It’s also an easy weekend trip from our home on the South Shore of Massachusetts, while still feeling like a real escape.

Our previous ski rental was just five minutes from Bretton Woods. We loved being so close to the mountain, but for our next home, we were willing to drive a little farther in exchange for more privacy, mature trees and room to breathe. That’s what we found at The Modern Pines. We can walk into downtown Bethlehem, then come home to a peaceful setting surrounded by nature.

New construction is hard to find in the vacation-rental world, and we really loved the idea of creating a home that felt fresh, clean and comfortable from the moment you walked through the door. We know that can be especially meaningful for guests who are sensitive to allergies. There’s also something wonderful about the feeling of a brand-new home—natural light and that clean, peaceful feeling you get when everything is new.

But there’s another reason we chose a home in this area. For years, we’ve dreamed of creating Manifest Farm, a sustainable animal sanctuary where rescued animals can have permanent, loving homes. Our long-term vision includes affordable housing for the people who care for the animals and opportunities to bring animals, nature, wellness and community together.

Finding the right land for Manifest Farm will take time. We wanted a New Hampshire home base where our family could spend more time as we work toward that dream. The Modern Pines is more than another rental property for us. It’s part of a much bigger story.

We hope you fall in love with this corner of New Hampshire for many of the same reasons we have: the mountains, small towns, fresh air and the chance to slow down with the people and animals you love. We’d be happy to have you stay with us and follow along as Manifest Farm grows.
